Tone Shaping and Max Compression

The four Tone Shaping Preamps feature three selectable modes: Warmth, Focus, andShine. Combined with six Max compression presets, they provide 18 different sonic combinations for recording. Max Compression is inspired by classic 1176 and LA-2A compressors and is designed for vocals, acoustic instruments, electric guitar, drums, and more.

Smart Display, Auto-Gain and Clip Protection

The full-color Smart Display provides clear visual feedback for gain reduction, input levels, and system settings. Auto-Gain automatically sets optimal gain levels across multiple inputs, while Clip Protection helps protect recordings against unexpected digital clipping.

Control Room and Monitoring

Volt 4P Max features A/B speaker switching for quickly switching between two pairs ofstudio monitors. Two headphone outputs provide monitoring options for both engineer and performer, while the built-in Talkback microphone enables communication between the control room and talent.

Digital Expansion and Connectivity

The optical ADAT input allows an external 8-channel microphone preamp to beconnected for expanded recording of drum kits and larger ensembles. ADAT supports 8 channels at 48 kHz, 4 channels at 96 kHz, and 2 channels at 192 kHz. The optical input also supports 2-channel S/PDIF. MIDI I/O and the built-in USB hub allow external synthesizers, controllers, and peripherals to be connected.

UAD Software and LUNA

Volt 4P Max includes a complete software package with 15+ UAD plug-ins and virtual instruments together with Universal Audio's LUNA Digital Audio Workstation.
