The RG550 is a classic, a nearly 40-year-old milestone in rock guitars.
A model that revolutionized the genre and set an entirely new standard for what a rock guitar should be and what one can expect from one. The RG550 in the Genesis series is essentially unchanged from when it was first released in 1987.

Body: Basswood.
The body is made of basswood, which is a fairly lightweight wood with even frequency response across the entire range. This makes it a wood that’s easy to shape sonically in many different directions and to get a wide variety of tones out of. The even frequency response also makes it very well-suited for distorted sounds; it ties the sound together nicely without it becoming either scattered or muddy.

Bridge: EDGE
The bridge is Ibanez’s classic EDGE, a well-proven tremolo system of the absolute highest quality that has become the benchmark for function and durability in floating bridges. Considered by many to be the best lockable tremolo system on the market. A knife-suspension tremolo with a fantastically smooth and responsive feel.
With a little simple maintenance and basic common sense in handling, it will hold its tuning for a lifetime (ours, not the tremolo’s). Tremolo arm mount compatible with the UTA20 Ultralite Tremolo Arm.

Neck: Super Wizard
The guitar features an Ibanez Super Wizard neck profile, the thinnest and slimmest version of Ibanez necks. Combined with the flat fretboard, it’s an extremely fast and easy-to-play neck—the ultimate neck for fast, technical riffing and/or intricate soloing.
But the neck isn’t limited to technical playing—you can, of course, play any style on it.
The obvious neck choice for anyone who doesn’t want anything standing in the way of their ideas other than their own playing technique.
