Waldorf Iridium Desktop MK2

The Iridium Desktop MK2 is an advanced, next-generation synthesizer developed by Waldorf Music. It is a further development of the acclaimed Iridium Desktop model from 2020 and is used by many artists and sound designers. This synthesizer is based on the legendary multi-engine design from the Quantum and Iridium series and offers an improved CPU card with more RAM and flash memory for increased sample storage and new synthesis possibilities.

New feature: Per-Note Parameter Locks
In collaboration with Aphex Twin, Per-Note Parameter Locks is introduced, a unique feature where each of the 128 notes can be assigned up to 16 individual parameter variations. This allows each note to have different settings for oscillators, effects, and other parameters. The functionality is saved with each sound program and can be easily reviewed and edited on a dedicated page.

New Synthesis Tools: Seeds
With the expanded RAM memory, a sixth synthesis method is introduced, inspired by wavetable synthesis. Here, each “Seed” can be used to dynamically create and control timbral journeys between different waveform waypoints, which can be manipulated with ring modulation, frequency modulation, noise, and other non-pitched material. Users can create their own timbral journeys or use predefined ones.

Protein's “Flavour” control
Add variety and life to your sound with Protein synthesis' micro-variations in timing, timbre, pitch, and several other parameters, for a more dynamic and expressive sound.

Increased storage, more layers, and sound options
With greater memory capacity, you can increase the number of multitimbral layers from 2 to 4. The synthesizer also supports advanced multitimbral modes such as round-robin and random-robin, providing richer sounds and greater creative freedom for sound designers and film composers.

Updates: Iridium & Quantum OS 4.0
An upcoming system update (version 4.0) will provide access to new features such as the Mutator patch randomizer, polyphonic arpeggiator, microtonal settings, and more, for both Iridium and Quantum models.
