With the EH2, Shanling presents a desktop DAC and headphone amplifier that is intended as the successor to the Shanling HE1.
This further development includes digital-to-analog conversion via an R2R ladder resistor network, which was developed directly by Shanling itself to approximate the sound reproduction of the PCM1704 chip.
This DAC can process signals up to PCM 32bit 768kHz and DSD512.
The amplifier stage is based on transistors and offers an output power of up to 4.32W at 32Ω.

R2R DAC
For the EH2, Shanling decided to develop its own DAC.
Inspired by the legendary PCM1704 DAC chip, the R2R 24bit DAC enables digital-to-analog conversion of signals up to PCM 32bit 768kHz and DSD512, while providing sound reproduction with a characteristic analog sound.
In addition, a NOS mode is also available, allowing you to enjoy your titles as close to the original as possible.

Transistor amplification
The amplifier stage of the HE02 is based on BD139 and BD140 transistors for an output power of 4.32 W into 32 Ω for the balanced headphone output and 1.28 W into 32 Ω for the unbalanced headphone output.
In addition, the line output is equipped with an OPA 1612, which provides an output level of 4.5 V balanced and 2.2 V unbalanced.

Extended connectivity options
The EH2 also offers more extensive connectivity options than its predecessor.
It has an optical Toslink input, a coaxial input and a USB-C input.
The latter is equipped with an XMOS XU316 interface that supports signals up to PCM 32bit 768kHz and DSD512.
In addition, the EH2 features Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity thanks to the Qualcomm QCC5125 chip, which enables wireless connection and ensures excellent quality thanks to support for the high-definition codecs LDAC, aptX, aptX HD and aptX Adaptive.
