The PRS Studio is a modern interpretation (and now a modern classic) of a traditional HSS guitar, featuring PRS's own Narrowfield pickups in the middle and neck positions and a McCarty III humbucker in the bridge position. The McCarty III pickups were specified by Paul Reed Smith and the PRS New Products Engineering team, and after several years of deep diving into sought-after vintage pickup models, the result was the PRS McCarty III, vintage-inspired humbuckers that deliver rare clarity along with a warm and rich tone.

The PRS Studio offers powerful single-coil sounds, vintage-sounding tones, and (if desired) a classic “punch in the face” from a screaming humbucker in the bridge position—all in one instrument. This is made possible by the push/pull tone control and 5-way blade switch. With a total of seven combinations, the PRS Studio covers all the classic tones while still having its own unique voice, making it the perfect “desert island” guitar.

Other specifications include a maple top, mahogany body and neck, and a rosewood fingerboard with 22 frets and a 25" scale. The PRS Studio is equipped with PRS's patented Gen III tremolo and Phase III Locking Tuners with Wing Buttons, both designed for excellent tuning stability while maximizing the transfer of string vibrations through the instrument.
