PRS Standard instruments are modelled on the all-mahogany guitars made by Paul Reed Smith before the Maryland factory opened. The all-mahogany construction produces a warm tone with a healthy dose of midrange. To further bring out the tone, the Standard 24 has a satin nitro finish that not only makes the guitar sing, it also gives a toned-down look and feel to the instrument.

Of course, the Standard 24 features a range of classic PRS attributes such as the 25" scale, Pattern Thin neck profile, 24 fret fingerboard with 10" radius and PRS Phase III locking action.

The two humbucker microphones used are PRS DMO where DMO stands for Dynamic, Musical, Open and have a clear open vocal-like character across the entire register. The DMO microphones are designed by Paul Reed Smith and the PRS design team where they have made deep analyses of sought-after vintage pickups and combined this knowledge with new discoveries how to further refine the signal and thus develop the tone.
