The PRS SE Swamp Ash Special is an electric guitar that combines the classic bolt-on feel with modern PRS design and impressive tonal flexibility. With a swamp ash body, maple neck, and maple fingerboard, this model delivers a lively tone with a clear attack, quick response, and a distinctive midrange that suits everything from clean and dynamic sounds to driven rock tones.

The swamp ash body contributes a resonant and open tonal character, while the maple neck and maple fingerboard provide extra definition and articulation. This combination results in a well-balanced sound with clear separation between frequencies and a playing feel that encourages both rhythm and solo playing.

The pickup configuration consists of two PRS 85/15 “S” humbuckers paired with a PRS Designed AS-01 single-coil pickup in the middle position. The AS-01 is designed with both AlNiCo magnets and steel windings to deliver a powerful single-coil tone with clear presence and richness. Together, the three pickups create a wide spectrum of tonal possibilities, ranging from crystal-clear clean tones to powerful humbucker sounds with high dynamics.

With a 5-way switch and push/pull function for pickup splitting, you gain access to a variety of combinations and tones. The result is a guitar that easily adapts to different genres and playing styles.
