JS2480-WH (White) Joe Satriani Signature.

The JS model, which has been Joe Satriani's main instrument for many years now, is a bit of an odd bird in the Ibanez range. With a neck profile and feel that is a little different for Ibanez, it is a guitar that differs quite significantly from what Ibanez usually does. The feel could perhaps be described as modern vintage (it's pretty obvious where he got his inspiration from when you play a JS).
A guitar where it's clear that Joe has thought about tone, playing comfort, range and more tone.

The newly developed DiMarzio® Satchur8? pickup in the bridge position helps to achieve a more versatile sound. The SUSTAINIAC® Driver pickup in the neck position is connected to a ‘Stealth PRO’ preamp that has been customised for Joe. It can provide endless sustain and dramatically expands the range with a 3-way Sustainiac switch.

Joe has always felt that the two extra frets on a 24-fret neck have moved the neck pickup closer to the bridge pickup and away from what he considers to be the neck pickup's ‘sweet spot’.
But after a lot of experimentation with different pickups and testing the replacement of the neck pickup with a single-coil humbucker, he found a solution to get the neck pickup sound he wanted despite a 24-fret neck. The fact that the neck has more frets has also meant that the shape of the lower cutaway has been made a little deeper into the body. Otherwise, it is similar to regular JS guitars in both sound and feel.

The neck is a 3-piece maple/bubinga neck with a rosewood fingerboard banded with 6105 bands that have received Ibanez Prestige Fret Edge Treatment.
The neck has a profile that Ibanez calls JS, which is rounder and more C-shaped than, for example, Wizard necks. The fingerboard is also more curved (less flat) than Wizard necks.
