For 40 years, it has hung over the shoulders of musicians around the world, and most often they’ve played music on the heavier side. The model has such a distinctive visual identity that there’s nothing about it that your eyes haven’t already told you.
A true classic among Ibanez models.
The body is made of Okoume, a very beautiful type of wood that leans toward a slightly warmer and mid-range-heavy tone. The treble is softly rounded without losing clarity or separation.
It has a pleasant bump in the midrange that makes the sound during melody and solo playing rich and singing, with long sustain.
The bridge is a Gibraltar Performer, a sturdy and stable bridge in the classic style. It provides excellent transmission of string vibrations to the body for substantial sustain and a singing tone.
The entire surface of the bridge is completely smooth, and there’s nothing that digs into your hand while playing or gets in the way when playing muted riffs.
