The AE body shape incorporates modern design elements to achieve high playability and create a well-balanced sound in line with the AE series concept.
The combination of the specially designed Scalloped X Bracing and Tone Projection Back Bracing produces a versatile sound character.
The AE170 has a solid Sitka spruce top with a flamed maple body and sides, finished in transparent black.
It has a woody, warm tone with a soft response to fingerpicking and delivers powerful high-mids with clear projection. The fingerboard inlays also add a sophisticated feel to the guitar.

A.I.R. Port is for better audibility for the guitarist. Holes in the binding facing you. It's a fantastic feature. A clear trend among acoustic guitars, but no major manufacturer offers it at an affordable price point. Plus, what the others have is basically just a hole drilled in the body.
Ibanez felt there had to be a better way for better audibility.
After trying many different sizes and types of holes and designs, they decided on the perfect sound port design, placing angled wooden blocks that throw the sound out of the port. They also decided to apply it to a wide range of models.
