Hagstrom Ultra Max DJS Danko Jones Signature – Designed for Uncompromising Rock
The Hagstrom Ultra Max DJS is Danko Jones’ signature model, based on the guitar he relies on both on stage and in the studio. The result is a stripped-down, uncompromising rock guitar focused on playability, power, and immediate response.

Danko Jones’s relationship with Hagstrom began in 2018 during the recording of the album *A Rock Supreme* with producer Garth Richardson in British Columbia, Canada. On a whim, the band bought a Hagstrom Metropolis from a local pawn shop. The guitar sounded so good that it was used on all the solos on the album, which led Danko to reach out to Hagstrom.

Built around Danko Jones’s playing style
The Ultra Max DJS is deliberately simple in its design. A humbucker in the bridge position, a master volume control, and a focused signal path deliver a powerful and direct sound.

The specially designed tapered neck profile has been developed for high playing comfort and better access to the higher frets. The solid mahogany single-cut body is combined with a Canadian maple top and a glued-in neck with a mortise-and-tenon joint for increased sustain and resonance.

At the heart of the instrument is Hagstrom’s newly developed Mango Tone Custom Humbucker, named after Danko’s nickname, “Mango Kid.” The pickup is based on the classic PAF design and features an AlNiCo 4 magnet and plain enamel windings. With a DC resistance of approximately 9.75 kΩ, it delivers power, bite, clarity, and impressive string separation.

Hagstrom’s proprietary lockable wrap-around bridge contributes to improved sustain, attack, and resonance. The high-gloss white finish, combined with multi-layer mother-of-pearl inlays, gives the guitar a distinctive and exclusive look.
