Since its introduction in 1942, the Gibson J-45 has been one of the best-selling and most recorded acoustic guitars in history. It is often called “The Workhorse” for its reliability, simple design, and elegant aesthetics. Handcrafted in Bozeman, Montana, by Gibson’s experienced luthiers, the J-45 Special offers an affordable, high-quality, U.S.-made acoustic guitar.

Body and Materials
Round-shoulder body crafted from solid mahogany on the back and sides. The top is made of solid Sitka spruce, reinforced with traditional scalloped X-bracing. The body depth is slightly shallower than on the J-45 Standard, providing a tighter and more balanced bass response suitable for a variety of musical styles.

Neck and Fingerboard
The neck is made of maple, attached with a compound dovetail neck-to-body joint and glued with hot manure resin. It features a SlimTaper™ profile for comfort and fast playability. The rosewood fingerboard has a 12” radius, with single pearl dot inlays and 20 standard frets.

Electronics and Pickup
Equipped with an L.R. Baggs Element Bronze under-saddle pickup and active preamp. A soundhole-mounted volume control allows for easy adjustment, making the guitar ideal for studio and live performances.

Finish and Hardware
Features a satin nitrocellulose lacquer finish for a natural feel and appearance. The top and sides feature cream binding, and the guitar is equipped with Grover Rotomatic tuners for stable tuning. TUSQ material is used for the nut, saddle, and bridge pins to ensure optimal sound quality.
