Paying tribute to the rare transitional models from 1965
The Firebird Platypus pays homage to the rare transitional Firebird models from early 1965, which featured a new Non-Reverse headstock design. Unlike the original two-layered headstock, the Platypus-style headstock is flat and includes six-in-line tuners. This model boasts a mahogany body with a set neck, a fast-playing SlimTaper™ neck profile, and a rosewood fretboard with 22 medium jumbo frets and acrylic trapezoid inlays. It also features a modified headstock for improved tuning stability, a Nashville Tune-O-Matic™ bridge for precise intonation, and an aluminum Stop Bar tailpiece for enhanced sustain. The Firebird Platypus is equipped with two Firebird mini humbucker™ pickups, delivering a bright, bell-like tone when clean and robust rock and blues sounds when pushed. Tailor your sound with individual volume and tone controls, all under the classic hot-stamped Firebird graphic pickguard. A Gibson hardshell case is included.
