The Gibson Dove Original is an iconic square-shoulder acoustic guitar introduced in the early 1960s. Its flamed maple back and sides, long scale and square-shoulder body provide crisp, clear tone and projection, while the body construction adds balance and warmth.

The guitar features a Sitka spruce top, flamed maple back and sides, and traditional hand-scalloped X-bracing. Multi-ply binding outlines the top and back, while the glossnitrocellulose lacquer finish complements the distinctive square-shoulder design.

The mahogany neck features a comfortable Rounded profile and is secured with acompound dovetail neck-to-body joint. The rosewood fingerboard has a 12" radius, 20 standard frets and mother-of-pearl parallelogram inlays. The headstock is equippedwith nickel-plated Grover Keystone tuning machines and a bone nut. Classic Dove details include a traditional Dove truss rod cover and double-antiqued multi-ply binding.

The traditional rosewood Dove bridge features a bone saddle and TUSQ bridge pins. The distinctive Dove pickguard features an inlaid mother-of-pearl Dove with hand-engraved and painted detailing.

The Dove Original is equipped with the Gibson-exclusive Baggs HiFi DNA pickup andpreamp system. The active system uses two lightweight sensors mounted on theinternal bridge plate. Each sensor has its own dedicated custom-voiced Class A preamp, and the sensors are blended together for optimized output. The system captures string detail, body resonance and the guitar's dynamic range for a natural and detailed amplified tone.

Baggs HiFi DNA features soundhole-mounted volume and tone controls for easy access while playing. The system offers gain-before-feedback comparable to under-saddle pickup systems and has no impact on the guitar's unamplified tone. The guitar comeswith a hardshell case and Gibson Accessory Kit.
