Formula Sound FF2.2

While based on the FF6.2/FF4.2 the FF2.2 has some significant differences.

The FF2.2 was designed particularly for use with vinyl. The phono input is a very high quality 2 stage design; plus selectable phono capacitance to better match to cartridge and a switchable rumble filter.

On the inputs the FF2.2 has the gain control, 12 LED metering, 4 band EQ, variable frequency high and low pass filters, cue and 60mm line fader found on the FF6.2/FF4.2.

However the AUX1 and AUX2 sends were not appropriate to a 2 channel mixer and there is only a need to assign the channel to the side of the fader it is on consequently each channel has a single X fade assign switch.

In place of these switches there is a FX send switch that allows either channel to be sent to a ¼” 3P jack connector for connection to an external FX unit, the return is routed to whichever channel has send selected via a wet/dry control in the output.

This allows a single effects unit connected to the effects jack to be used by either channel, the channel on which FX send is selected automatically has the return routed to it. Note early units allowed both FX sends to be pressed at once resulting in both signals being sent and returns to both channels but current units disable the facility if both FX sends are selected allowing only a single channel FX send/return at any time.

The PHONO inputs are a 2 stage design (different to the FF6.2/FF4.2 because no AUX switches, means more PCB space) together with a cartridge capacitance matching switch make it probably among the best 2 channel mixers for vinyl.

The output section is reduced from the FF6.2/FF4.2 to fit between the channels however full headphone functionality has been retained and the console MIC has a presettable 2 band EQ adjustable through the base of the unit.

The differences from the FF6.2/FF4.2 are in both additions as well as subtractions, the additions result in a better performance with vinyl.
