Custom Knowles enhanced bass BA drivers

FiiO's goal was to create a truly monumental multi-BA driver IEM. They wanted to shake up the current flagship multi-BA driver IEM market and spent three years refining the system to achieve this. For the ten FA19 balanced armature drivers, they worked closely with Knowles. Together, they developed a balanced armature driver specifically for the FA19, featuring enhanced bass to deliver a deep low-frequency experience rarely found in multi-BA driver IEMs. Furthermore, FiiO worked closely with Knowles to optimize the midrange and treble drivers to sound not only highly detailed but also pleasantly smooth. With the FA19, we meticulously tuned every part of the frequency response curve to achieve a truly coherent and resolving sound. 10 Knowles BA Design

The FiiO FA19 was developed based on scientific findings and actual listening tests. FiiO opted to use four custom Knowles bass balanced armature drivers, two Knowles ED mid-bass drivers, and four Knowles SWFK treble balanced armature drivers per earphone.
Using more drivers in an IEM offers certain advantages. They significantly increase the energy density within a specific frequency range, resulting in better detail reproduction. This is particularly noticeable in dynamic audio passages, where more drivers are better able to handle the nuances and ensure that the resulting sound is not compromised. The IEM is thus better able to reproduce the original sound faithfully.
When tuning IEMs, it's crucial that the drivers have ample power reserves, giving engineers enough leeway to achieve their sonic goals. This simply isn't possible with fewer drivers. That's why the FA19 utilizes the outstanding balanced armature drivers. And the physical and electronic three-way crossover precisely separates the different drivers, which operate in different frequency ranges, resulting in clear, reference-monitor-like sound quality.
The FA19 is an IEM that reaches the pinnacle of sound quality with a thunderous impact and is capable of faithfully reproducing every single audio detail.

Bass enhancement system with negative feedback

The FA19 features four specially amplified, bass-balanced armature drivers per channel, developed by FIIO in collaboration with Knowles, delivering rich bass. Engineers utilized precise DLP 3D printing technology to create a shell that helps channel this low-frequency energy into the rear cavity of the earphone, effectively lowering the resonant frequency there—essentially a negative feedback bass amplification system. The result is bass that extends extremely deep, which is unusual for IEMs in this class.

Medium frequency cut filter

A smooth midrange response is not only a result of the quality of the core components, but also of meticulous tuning by professional acousticians. The FA19 employs two classic Knowles ED midrange drivers, renowned for their high resolution and favored by discerning listeners. However, if not properly configured, they can sometimes exhibit sibilance, negatively impacting the overall listening experience. To address this issue, the engineers developed a dedicated midrange cutoff filter on the underside of these two balanced armature drivers.

Rubycon audiophile-quality capacitors for the crossover network

Thanks to its precise crossover network, you can experience every single note. The FA19 uses audiophile-grade film capacitors as its electronic crossover components, distinguished by exceptional precision. While typical resistors used in crossovers have an error tolerance of around 1%, the FA19's resistors boast an impressively low error tolerance of 0.1%. This allows the FA19 to achieve not only more precise crossover points compared to conventional ceramic capacitors, but also improved high-frequency resolution without sacrificing sonic finesse.
In numerical terms, this means that the new FiiO FA10, with its ten drivers, can reproduce a frequency range between 20 Hz and 40 kHz, with an impedance of only 10 ohms and a sensitivity of 106 dB.

S.Turbo patented acoustic design

The FA19 features FiiO's patented S.Turbo acoustic design in the form of a turbine. By extending the tube that carries the low frequencies, it acts as a filter, effectively eliminating high-frequency sound waves emanating from the bass balanced armature drivers. This ensures a smooth transition between low and mid frequencies. It also results in a cleaner separation between the low and mid frequencies, leading to a purer sound that more accurately reproduces the original sound of the music.

Monitor/HiFi mode switch

Choose between two meticulously crafted listening modes simply by flipping a switch on the back of the IEM. Use the FA19 anytime, anywhere as an audio production tool.

High-quality cable for breathtaking sound

The FA19 comes standard with a high-purity, pure silver cable consisting of 8 strands, each with 28 wires, for a total of 224 wires. Each individual wire is independently insulated, and the cable is twisted in a stranded configuration. The cable jacket is made of imported, transparent, and environmentally friendly TPU, giving the cable a bright and clear appearance. This TPU material also effectively prevents yellowing with prolonged use and stiffening of the cable in low-temperature environments.
