EMAD is, thanks to the interchangeable damping rings, the skin of possibilities with many faces. This award-winning skin has put its finger right on the ugly face of unwanted frequencies. EMAD is a single layer skin with a small plastic ring where you place one of the included 2 damping rings.
The narrow mute ring retains the natural sound of the drum but with more focus in the top and bottom register. If you choose the wide mute ring, the low mid-range is further eroded and the bass drum feels fat with a lot of click in the attack. A third sound is obtained without damping, the sound then has more midrange and resembles damping with a felt strip in the spirit of John Bonham.
All options are changed in one go and Evans Level 360 ensures that the bass drum skin is flat against the body of the bass drum already at the start so that full sound is obtained already at finger tuned position.
