Donner LAX COMP - studio sound for your pedalboard
Donner LAX COMP is an analogue compressor inspired by the iconic 1176 compressor, developed by Bill Putnam Sr. of Universal Audio back in 1967. The 1176 is famous for its fast response, warm tone and ability to make instruments stand out in the mix - and now you can get that same character in pedal format right on your pedalboard. LAX COMP is a versatile and great-sounding compressor that's perfect for guitarists who want more control over dynamics without losing definition or feel.
Dynamic Tone Shaping with Studio Genetics
With four precise controls - Sustain, Attack, Limit and Level - you get everything from subtle compression that smooths out peaks and extends tone, to more powerful compression with a clear impact.
Sustain controls how long the compression lasts
Attack determines how quickly the compressor kicks in (low setting = fast attack, perfect for funk and rhythmic playing)
Limit acts as a threshold and determines at what level compression is activated
Level adjusts the overall output level
An EQ switch lets you add a little extra treble - handy if you want to make the sound cut through better, especially with humbuckers or in darker mixes.
How and when should you use it?
LAX COMP is perfect for:
Fingerpicking, where it smooths out dynamics and brings out the details
Funky rhythms, where fast attack and short sustain add clarity and bite
Lead playing, where compression adds sustain and fullness
Clean tones, where the signal has more presence
Slide guitar, where it adds control and even sound across the fretboard
Where in the signal chain?
Compressor pedals should generally be placed early in the signal chain - usually right after the guitar and before drive pedals - so that it works with your clean instrument signal. This provides an even fundamental tone that you can then distort, modulate or amplify further.
Compact, reliable and professional
Donner LAX COMP is built in a rugged metal housing and features true bypass, so the signal is not affected when the pedal is off. Its compact size makes it easy to place on your pedalboard, and with its 1176-inspired circuit board, it brings classic studio sound to your live rig.
