The Audac ATU44 transformer signal converter is a smart little problem solver that converts speaker signals and unbalanced line signals into balanced line signals.

One of its uses is to convert speaker signals to a balanced line signal. It has inputs for 100V/70V/50V/33V/, but can also be used with an 8-ohm speaker signal; see below for connection details. Its other use is to convert an unbalanced line signal to a balanced one, or vice versa.

A typical application is to take a signal from a 100V speaker system to the ATU44MK2 and then feed its output signal to an additional amplifier in a separate audio system. All inputs and outputs are completely galvanically isolated from each other and can thus also break ground loops and solve hum problems.

Connection of 8 ohm speaker signal to the 5-pin terminal strip:
Amplifier power Amplifier power 150W-300W into 8 ohms: Positive signal to 50V, negative signal to COM.
Amplifier power 300W-600W in 8 ohms: Positive signal to 70V, negative signal to COM.
Amplifier power >600W in 8 ohms: Positive signal to 100V, negative signal to COM.
