The S1070PBZ is an S model in the Ibanez Premium series.
Premium is a relatively new series of guitars and basses in the Ibanez range that lies on the borderland between the Prestige and standard series. The series can best be described as wanting to build a top quality instrument in a cheaper manufacturing country, all to keep the price tag down for the end consumer.
With the Premium instruments you get amazing quality for the money you pay, both sound and playability are of the highest quality. Details such as the fitting of the neck pocket, shielding of the control space, band sanding, etc. are absolutely top class.
The S model has a thin, flexible, comfortable body with a slightly arched top (shelled front). A rounder and softer cut guitar than the more angular RG model.
The model is a real sound chameleon that easily handles everything from soft pop to metal.
The body is made of Mahogany, with a beautiful Poplar Burl top, a combination that sonically goes in the warmer and more mellow direction. The treble is a little softly rounded, but without it losing clarity, separation or sustain. The neck is glued in 11 layers and the fretboard is made of Rosewood, has frets made of Stainless Steel. Lockable MG-T mechanics from Gotoh.
