The Starclassic Walnut / Birch is the result of extensive experimentation by Tama to find exceptional drum tone. The tom shells are made from 6mm 4-ply European birch, with a 2-ply inner layer of American black walnut. This combination provides superior quality warmth and richness, with the solid attack of birch for uncompromising tone. The die-cast hoops wrap it up nicely to bring controlled sustain and more clarity to the overall tone. These drums produce a focused attack that would bring great distinction to any musical ensemble.
Defined Tone
To add to the balanced sound provided by the shell construction, the bass drum features 22'' x 16'' dimensions. This provides the perfect balance of punch and boom. Not too staccato, just the right amount of resonance. The shell also features a thicker 8mm 5-ply outer layer in contrast to the toms. The Starclassic Walnut / Birch is the ideal choice for the professional drummer looking for a high-quality, focused, and rich tone for their groove sessions, whatever the style may be.
Further more, the Starclassic drums feature Evans® heads on all drums aside from the bass drum front heads (fitted with Genera EQ4 clear batter heads). On the rack and floor toms, they feature Genera G2 2-ply clear batter heads and TAMA Power Craft II 1-ply clear bottom heads which provide durability and stability with a solid sound.

Once the drum is positioned, it saves your drum position without the need for separate memory locks. The quick-lock tom bracket also features rubber lining to isolate the drums and enhance resonance.
Cushioned floor tom legs keep drums firmly positioned and protected. Designed with a special air chamber that absorbs shock and helps eliminate the transfer of vibrations to the floor, they provide a more comfortable playing experience.
Superior Hoops
Tama's die-cast hoops are some of the best hoops around. Manufactured by injecting molten zinc into moulds, they are denser and more consistent in shape than triple-flanged hoops. This careful process helps refine a crisp, clear, and focused attack, with powerful rimshots. Not only do they provide a superior playing experience, but they also provide more consistent tuning because of the greater contact between the tension rods and hoop.
Star-Cast Mounting System
The Star-Cast Mounting System provides maximum resonance and stability and has a streamlined design to make it easier to position your toms closer together.
